Where Are They Now?
Doug Tabish won the Lois Fink Outstanding Rookie award at the 1983 National Academic Games Olympics (as the national tournament was called then).
- Doug played for Springdale High School in Pittsburgh.
- His father, Jacob Tabish, won a Jim Davis Outstanding Coordinator Award at the 1984 national tournament.
- Doug attended Cornell from 1987-1992, earning degrees in Electrical Engineering and Psychology.
- He then served with the Army Rangers for four years, retiring as a captain.
- He is currently a vice-president with American Express in New York City. He lives in New Jersey with his wife and two daughters.
- Jim Davis, Doug's coach at Springdale, credits Doug with inventing the 6/4/2 boards that are placed in the middle of the table during Presidents competition. The idea came to him as a way to lessen the chances of players claiming to have answered on a higher clue.
