National qualifying rules are followed. Participants must play all four games and must score in the top 25% of each game. Students qualify individually and are then grouped by rank into national teams. Players in each division are ranked according to their total national percentile score for all four games. The number of qualifiers for each division are proportional to the total number of entrants in that division. Usually 15 middle division participants, 10 junior division participants, and 5 senior division participants.
Sponsors/Moderators receive a coaching supplement for each game and an hourly stipend for attending training inservices. Moderators are expected to hold players practice sessions and assist students needs at the local school site. In addition, they are expected to help in some way at local league tournaments: monitoring students, officiating, recording scores, distributing and collecting materials, etc. Sponsors are encouraged to take the AGLOA Officials Certification Test for Equations, LinguiSTHIK, and On-Sets. This year seven sponsors and the coordinator will chaperone 30 students at the national tournament.
