Judges Corner for January 2010

Tricky Equations Solutions

A judge may be asked whether a mathematically-complicated Equations Solution is correct. (The complication may be in the Solution or the Goal or both.)

    • Check whether there are any other Solutions to be checked or other questions to be answered. If not, tell players to move on to the next shake (if the warning has not been called).

    • The judge can then take the Solution to a quiet place and check whether it is correct. It is also desirable to have another judge work out the Solution as well since "two heads are better than one" (Sophistical Formula).

When the judges have checked the Solution and agreed on its correctness or incorrectness, the original judge can return to the table and render the verdict to the players.
