    • 1-12: My wife Abigail's father was a Congregational minister who was very unenthusiastic about his daughter marrying me. I received 71 electoral votes when elected president. I actually received more electoral votes, 77, when I was elected vice president.
    • 13-24: I was impeached by a party-line vote of 126 to 47, and 11 articles of impeachment were sent to the Senate. Seven Republican senators crossed party lines to vote against my removal. None of the seven was reelected.
     
    • 25-33: I won a minor reputation with an essay published in International Review shortly after my graduation from college.
