I tried to send delegates to the congress, but Southern congressmen blocked the move because all the Latin American republics had outlawed slavery.
13-24: During my time in the White House, rioters killed 48 blacks in a New Orleans race riot after Louisiana gave black men the right to vote. Christopher Sholes obtained a patent for the first practical typewriter.
