On-Sets Restrictions

In Middle, Junior, and Senior Divisions, a Solution may have to include a Restriction. This is a statement involving either of the cubes C and =. A Restriction is a statement that may remove one or more cards from the Universe before the rest of the Solution, called the Set-Name, is checked to determine if it equals the Goal.

  • C means "is a subset of." For example, the Restriction R C B means that every R card must also have a B dot on it. Any card that violates the Restriction is removed from the Universe for that player's Solution. In effect, the R – B cards are removed by this Restriction.
  • = means "equals." For example, the Restriction R = B means that every R card must also have a B dot and every B card must also have a R dot. Any card that does not obey the Restriction is removed from the Universe. In effect, the R – B and B – R cards are removed by this Restriction.

This brief explanation has only scratched the surface of this topic, which is the most challenging of the parts of On-Sets.
