Purpose of the League
The St. Bernard Parish Academic Games League provides academic competition for students in elementary, middle, and high schools. Participants are motivated to improve their skills in mathematics,language arts, and social studies and receive recognition for their achievements.

Formation of the League
The first academic games tournament in St. Bernard took place in December, 1993. 98 students from elementary and middle schools participated in the event. The only game played that year was Equations. On-Sets was added to the competition the following school year and the number of participants increased. During the 1996-7 school year, over 300 elementary, middle, and high school students participated in the local tournaments. 30 of the highest scoring individuals attended the national tournament in Kissimmee, FL. They brought home a winning team trophy and two undefeated players. St. Bernard players and teams have gotten better every year, culminating in sweepstakes championships at the national tournament.

Composition of the League
The St. Bernard Parish Academic Games League includes public and private schools in St. Bernard Parish. Students play against all other contestants entered for their grade level of competition.
